Why am I Writing this Blog?

Looking back on when I first started my own personal fitness journey, one of the things that I remember doing constantly was reading different fitness, workout, and weight loss related articles and blogs. I always found them to be informative, inspirational, and even empowering in their own ways. The exercise articles gave great advice (usually) on the “how’s” of weight loss and increasing fitness, but it was the blogs – those first-hand accounts of the experience – that helped to motivate me.

I believe that sharing our own personal stories is a powerful way to inform and inspire others. It is much more intimate than a “how-to” article, as it allows us to relate to one another and find a common ground. I read blogs by people who just started working towards their goals, those who were currently working towards them, and those who had already accomplished what they set out to do.  Their perspectives and experiences became mine, and I was able to learn from them, regardless of what point they were at in their respective journeys.

The insight I gleaned and the things that I learned from these people helped propel me forward, and gave me the motivation I needed to start my own journey. Do I attribute my success solely to reading these blogs? No, but they sure helped me realize that I was not alone in the day-to-day trials that are a part of any transformational journey. Sometimes just knowing that “you’re not the only one” gives you the courage that you need to take action.

It is my humble hope that you, the readers of this blog, are able to gain some insight, inspiration, and motivation from my perspective and personal experiences. Through my posts to this blog, I hope to both inspire and inform you with the articles and stories I will share. I invite you all to be a part of my journey, and I want to help you – regardless of where you are at in yours.
